Carter is a big loveable black lab. He’s seven years old, and is diabetic. His vet suspects that he has hip dysplasia and degenerative joint disease in his hips and left hind tarsus. He is a little overweight, and because he is diabetic his owner would like to see him lose some weight.
Since exercising on land is painful for him due to his arthritis and dysplasia, swimming is the ideal way for him to shed a few pounds and help relieve the pain of arthritis. After only a few swims, Carter is already showing improvement: he is able to walk further and really enjoys his weekly swim with his owner.
For him, the best part is jumping in!
