Tonka is a 10 year old Rottweiler mix. He was diagnosed at 9 months with elbow dysplasia, and at 8 years with hip dysplasia.
He’s a lucky dog and gets 3-4 short, 10 minute walks a day. Diane, a veterinarian technician, is swimming Tonka to increase his mobility. Due to the weakness in his left foot, he tends to drag it while walking.
Diane would like to see him regain strength in that leg to prevent this from happening. Being weightless in the water is allowing Tonka to build muscle without having to bear his own weight.
