Come Swimming

How do you book an appointment?

  What you need to do:

 What we need to do:

  1. Call us (613 745 9424) or email us to tell us about your dog and to set up a time for your appointment.

We will discuss with you what your dog's specific needs are and your goals for their swim sessions. We will schedule a time that is convenient for you, pending the return of the Vet Referral form.

  1. Provide us with your vet's contact information.

We will prepare the Vet Referral form for you and fax it to your vet for signature.

Note: We require this form to be completed for your dog's safety and because it provides us with information that may be pertinent to the design of your dog's swim program.

  1. Complete the information forms and send them to us or print them and bring them on your 1st appointment.

We will review your forms in advance of your appointment and be prepared for your arrival.

  1. Arrive with your dog…we supply lifejackets, towels, toys and treats.

We'll do the rest, but we encourage you to be in the pool room for support and encouragement.

What will happen during your 1st appointment?

Before heading into the pool we will:

  • Sit with you and your dog to get to know each other better (1st appointment).
  • Gather information about your dog's medical/physical condition which will be helpful in designing the swim program.
  • Observe your dog's movement, behaviour and emotional state.
  • Fit your dog with a lifejacket or swimming harness.

Before swimming begins, we will spend time gaining your dog's trust and getting him/her comfortable with being in and around the water. The time spent at this stage is critical, and the amount of time needed depends on each individual dog.

A progress report is filled out after each session to track your dog's progress. At each new swim session please let us know of any health changes so that we can make appropriate adjustments to your dog’s program.

Note: It is advisable that your dog doesn't eat at least two hours before the swim and wait one hour after the swim. Check with your veterinarian to see what is best for your dog.
